Zeljko Mitrovic was born on November 21, 1964, in Belgrade, Serbia. He is a Serbian professional basketball coach and former player. Mitrovic has been the head coach of the Serbian national team since 2016. He has also been head coach of Partizan Belgrade, Olympiacos Piraeus and Crvena zvezda. As a player, he spent the majority of his career with Crvena zvezda. Mitrovic won four Yugoslavian League championships, two Croatian League championships and one Bosnian League championship.
Mitrovic began his playing career with Crvena zvezda in 1982. He played with the team until 1991. In 1992, he joined Partizan Belgrade. He spent one season with the team before returning to Crvena zvezda. Mitrovic played for Crvena zvezda until his retirement in 2001.
In 2002, Mitrovic became the head coach of Crvena zvezda. He coached the team for four seasons. In 2006, he was hired as the head coach of Partizan Belgrade. He coached the team for two seasons. In 2008, he became the head coach of Olympiacos Piraeus. He coached the team for one season.
In 2009, Mitrovic became the head coach of the Serbian national team. He has coached the team at two FIBA World Cups and one EuroBasket.
