Edward Everett Horton was a movie actor born on March 18, 1886 in Brooklyn, NY. He is best known for his narration of Fractured Fairy Tales on Rocky and Bullwinkle, and for his cameo in It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. He also played Lord Pelham Gifford in an episode of It Takes a Thief.

Before his fame as an actor, Horton was expelled from college after tricking an audience into believing he had jumped off the top of the Service Building. He went on to appear in a number of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers films, including Top Hat and Shall We Dance. He also had a prominent role in the 1994 Cary Grant film Arsenic and Old Lace.

It is believed that Horton’s grandfather is Edward Everett Hale, author of The Man Without a Country. Horton’s career spanned more than five decades, and he was known for his comedic timing and his distinctive voice. He died in 1970 at the age of 84.
